Overview

Whispering is an open-source project that aims to streamline the voice-to-text experience by utilizing the OpenAI Whisper API. This project allows for seamless integration with ChatGPT, enabling users to record and transcribe voice directly in the chat. Additionally, it offers the ability to record and transcribe across any website with a global keyboard shortcut. The transcription is automatically copied to the clipboard and can be configured to automatically paste.

Installation

To install Whispering, follow these steps:

  • Chrome Extension:

    1. Visit the Chrome Web Store and search for “Whispering”.
    2. Click on the “Add to Chrome” button.

  • Web App:

    1. Click on the “Open Web App” button to start using the Whispering web app.

  • Desktop App:

    1. Go to the latest releases page on GitHub.
    2. Download the corresponding installation file (.msi for Windows, .dmg for MacOS).
    3. Double click on the downloaded file to begin the installation process.
    4. If prompted as unsafe for Windows, click on “More Info” -> “Run Anyway” to proceed with the installation. Note that the app is safe to use.
